Happy Finance Friday! July is flying by and if you haven’t taken a summer vacation yet, it’s time. Can’t afford a getaway? Don’t worry, you can still plan an inexpensive staycation this season. A staycation is a vacation spent home and may involve day trips to local attractions. Here are a few ways to make the most of your summer break!
Explore New Territory
One of the perks of a staycation is the opportunity to explore unseen areas nearby. Plus, it gives you the opportunity to learn the culture of your city and sightsee around town. Living in Houston, there’s so much to do. We have the Aquarium, NASA, Galveston Island, Memorial Park, Museum District, and the Houston Zoo to name a few. All are must-see attractions in my book. Grab a tourist guide and start your adventure!
Instead of spending money on a flight and hotel, save your coins and find a local hotel on Groupon with amazing amenities. I recommend selecting a place within walking distance to your destination. One of my favorite getaways in Houston is Hotel Sorella.
It’s a plush hotel located in City Centre and features an outdoor pool with cabanas. The Monnalisa bar, attached to the hotel features a stunning view of restaurants and retailers and hosts a generous daily happy hour. I also recommend Hotel Derek by the Galleria and can’t wait to get to the new Marriott Marquis for a little fun downtown!
Who doesn’t like to be pampered? Find a local spa with specials and indulge in a massage or facial. Or maybe just rest, relax and unwind by the pool! Make the most of your staycation by taking pictures and making new memories. What’s your favorite local go-to? I’d love to hear new places to visit!
