How To Turn Heads this Valentine’s Day in Mocha Tonez | Fashion

red, dress, flowers, feminine, beauty, classic, beauty, glam, old fashion hollywoodYou know the saying, “red turns heads!” Well, it’s certainly true. I teamed up with a local Houston designer, Mocha Tonez to test this theory out. With Valentine’s Day weeks away, I thought it would be fitting for date night or Galentine’s.

About the Brand

Mocha Tonez focuses on pear-shaped women. Now before you say, “Stacy, you’re not pear-shaped!” Don’t let my petite frame fool you, I’ve got curves! It just takes certain silhouettes to flatter my shape. Mocha Tonez garments accentuate a woman’s voluptuous hips all while flattering her slim upper body. Ladies, imagine not having to alter every dress you purchase because it already fits your frame?! Now, that would be perfect. Get a tailor-made look, just for you by contacting Mocha Tonez.

I love red! It’s so beautiful and makes me feel fierce. This particular shade was a perfect match for my signature Ruby Woo lipstick from MAC. Since the decollete was off the shoulder I pulled my hair back to help frame my face and avoid any distractions. These feminine flowers are the ideal accessory so I went with minimal jewelry and added nude pumps from Shoe Republic LA extra sass.

Valentine's Day, fashion, winter style, online deals, holiday glams, fashion tips, stylist, fashion, style, houston bloggerA few weeks ago I shared details 0n a new online boutique, My Petals Kouture. I feel like I could conquer the world and calm a storm in this collection. The older I get the more I believe quality over quantity is the best way to go in life, especially when it comes to shopping. I featured a wine colored dress last time and decided to shift gears in this black bodycon.

Every woman needs a little black dress in her closet. After all, Beyonce made a whole song about the importance of a dress that can turn heads and hearts. I too believe in the power of an LBD and recommend every woman have one in her wardrobe. I snagged this ruffle piece because of the trendy style. I love the way the ruffle drapes nicely on my shoulder and adore the straps. I find it classic yet spicy with the fitted silhouette.

I recommend styling with a pair of strappy black heels, an essential piece. Ladies, if you don’t have a pair of strappy heels, invest now. My shoes are from Agaci’s Outlet store in San Marcos and were on major sale. Find a similar pair by Steve Madden here.

How to Win in 2018 | Faith

new year, resolutions, 2017. 2018, goals. vision. faith, family, finance, food. fashion. God is able, trust his planHappy New Year! Can you believe we’re ten days into 2018?! With a new year comes so many new things, like resolutions and unknown adventures. I am so eager to see all of the wonderful things in store for the next 12 months but for now, I want to aggressively attack my goals. Here are 3 ways to help you win in 2018:

Unsubscribe From Emails

If you’re anything like me, you probably receive a ton of emails each day. Within the past 2 months, I noticed I was getting a lot of holiday emails and decided to opt out early to prevent overspending.  Let’s be real, there’s no way anyone can read hundreds of emails a day and be happy about it. I find myself deleting an email before opening up the message. Opting out of emails can help you stay focused on your goals. If saving money is your top priority this year then avoid any distractions by unsubscribing to sales ads. It’s too tempting!

Set Goals

A few of my 2017 goals carried over to this year and I’m totally fine with that, Rome wasn’t built in a day or a year! The goal in 2018 is to win in every area of my life. From my faith to my fashion. So, I wrote out my plans and submitted my visions to God. I learned a few years ago that you will not have joy in your decisions if you do not involve God, so seeking His guidance first is important. Big or small, just write out your plans on paper. It will help put things in perspective and allow you to take the next steps to success.

Declutter Your Space

Messy is different from cluttered. A mess can be cleaned up with a quick sweep. Decluttering requires sorting which can take time. I recommend knocking out an area at a time, small victories go a long way. I used to have a ton of clothes in my closet then realized I wasn’t wearing many of the pieces because they no longer fit or were dated. I decided to donate unworn garments and alter any pieces to fit my body. Start with any rooms you haven’t attended to lately and just pray your way through it. If you can’t, you can always pay a professional to help you get organized.

If you’re going to win in 2018 you have to be patient and diligent every single day. I can guarantee this year will not be easy but every moment will be worth it. Take the good with the bad and always look for the best in your situation. That’s how you’ll win, by never giving up or giving in. Wishing you a wonderful year full of success!

A Recap of 2017 | Faith

new year, resolutions, 2017. 2018, goals. vision. faith, family, finance, food. fashion. God is able, trust his planWhat can I say about 2017?! Well, this year has been lit, literally! I started off the new year looking for a breakthrough. It seemed like I had yet again found myself in the same spot for the 3rd year in a row and I was determined to make a change. Last New Year’s Eve, I went to church with my friend, Rakel. The Pastor preached on an abundance of rain. He shared that we would have to be patient this year but live in expectation of a great rainfall from heaven.new year, resolutions, 2017. 2018, goals. vision. faith, family, finance, food. fashion. Boy was he right, I watched God pour out blessings that were overflowing! God reminded me that my plans are made possible through His guidance. I experienced growth, love, and an abundance of God’s amazing grace. As I approach 2018, I welcome the new year with open arms. All of its beauty and unknown adventures. My soul rests on this,

Among the Flowers Photoshoot Published in Solstice Magazine | Fashion

fashion, styling, editorial shoot, behind the scenes, wardrobe stylist, fashion stylist, model, makeup, photographyOne of my goals for 2017 was to become a published stylist. My dream became a reality earlier last winter when I styled the Among the Flowers photo shoot for Solstice Magazine. I worked with two phenomenal photographers, Liana Hout and Nick Glover. Both Lia and Nick had a vision of shooting spring pieces with clean aesthetics.

Models, Alissa Sugawara and Katelyn Royster were amazing and such beautiful souls inside, out. I styled all items with basic pieces from affordable retailers like H&M, Agaci, and my very own line, SXMD. For a chic vibe, I finished all looks with family jewels courtesy of, Davis Dynasty Designs.

Wardrobe Styling is my favorite thing to do in life. I absolutely love the hustle and bustle behind the scenes. It can be challenging yet rewarding at the same time. What are your goals for the new year? Do they push you beyond your comfort zones? I hope so, in my opinion, that’s the best kind of work. Wishing you all the best with your goals in 2018!

When Fashion & Faith Collide | Weekly Inspiration

stylist, fashion, wardrobe stylist. faith, fashion, career, opportunities, new chances, work, trust, obedienceGreetings! In my last faith post, I mentioned using my time of unemployment to grow my styling business. In order to grow, I had to network and learn from other stylists in the area. So, I took a leap of faith and contacted two well-respected stylists in Houston, Jazzlin Raquel, and Ashley Dunn. Now, keep in mind my nature is to stay in my shell. So reaching out to people I don’t know is a bit different for me, but you know what they say, “you can’t grow in your comfort zone.”

stylist, fashion, wardrobe stylist. faith, fashion, career, opportunities, new chances, work, trust, obedienceHonestly, I thought I would need a connection to gain an internship with these ladies but I was wrong. With Jazzlin, I inquired on one of her Instagram posts requesting an assistant stylist for a photo shoot. Believe it or not, I sent her a DM and linked my work for quick reference.  She contacted me right away and within 72 hours I was working behind the scenes at my very first shoot. It was there my love for editorial work began. Photoshoots are so amazing because they allow you the chance to create and think outside of the box.

stylist, fashion, wardrobe stylist. faith, fashion, career, opportunities, new chances, work, trust, obedienceThis particular opportunity opened a door into the world of fashion that I longed to see. From there, I assisted Jazzlin with countless shoots and connected with models, photographers, designers, hair stylists, and makeup artists. Reaching out to Jazzlin resulted in my very own publication in a magazine (stay tuned for more details).

My time assisting Ashley Dunn was a bit different and ranged from TV segments, personal shopping, photo shoots, and giving back to the community. I met Ashley volunteering at an annual fashion show in Houston. She came to the event in need of accessories and I was her go-to girl! While showing off my sister’s jewelry line, Davis Dynasty Designs I put my plug-in for interning. She asked me my availability and how often I could assist. She really needed someone who had a bit more flexibility but still shared her contact information.

stylist, fashion, wardrobe stylist. faith, fashion, career, opportunities, new chances, work, trust, obedienceWhen I lost my job last November, I reached out to Ashley and let her know my schedule changed and checked to see if she was still looking for an intern. I didn’t get an immediate response but a week later I got a text asking if I was free to help with a TV segment on Houston’s Life. It was an amazing experience and I am so glad I got a chance to connect and network with on-air correspondents, celebrities, and dozens of models. There’s fortune in the follow-up!

stylist, fashion, wardrobe stylist. faith, fashion, career, opportunities, new chances, work, trust, obedienceAshley taught me a lot about the fashion industry but more on faith. She would often credit God for her success and was open to sharing her story. It’s not a coincidence that faith and fashion are two of my core values. When styling, I try to remember to let God’s light shine not just for me but for others. You never know who you might meet behind the scenes standing in the need of a positive word, encouragement, or just motivation to keep pushing! Our gifts are not just for generating income but also a way to connect folks to Christ and give God glory. At the end of the day that is what I believe we were created to do.

Best Breakfast in Houston – The Breakfast Klub | Food

foodie, houston eats, what's for dinner, breakfast, lunch, cafe, restuarant, the breakfast klubI love breakfast! When I was a kid, my Mom would make breakfast for dinner. It wasn’t often but when she did she rolled out the red carpet. From grits to eggs, sausage, bacon, fresh fruit, pancakes with syrup, and the list goes on and on. In my eyes, it was a genius idea!

foodie, houston eats, what's for dinner, breakfast, lunch, cafe, restuarant, the breakfast klubWhen I moved to Houston 10 years ago, I never thought I would find downhome breakfast like my Mom’s cooking but I was wrong. My first experience at The Breakfast Klub was almost a decade ago. My sister, Porcia, joined me and we split the chicken and waffles, boy was it amazing! I no longer eat chicken anymore, so now I opt out of the wings and chow down on the waffle a la carte.

foodie, houston eats, what's for dinner, breakfast, lunch, cafe, restuarant, the breakfast klubThe catfish and grits are a Southerner’s dream. This dish makes my soul happy! Oh, and the coffee is heavenly. On any given day, you’re sure to see a crowd lined up and waiting to get into this cozy breakfast spot. Don’t let the long lines block your blessings, I promise it’s worth the wait!

A holiday look would not be complete without a pair of sparkly drop earrings! I snagged these beauties from DSW for a steal, they have phenomenal accessories. I made sure to pull my hair up to show off this amazing neckline. Another great feature is the silhouette. It’s straight and not too fitted on my hips and thighs, which makes it perfect for a work event. It gives me Victoria Beckham vibes, conservative and classy yet sexy!

When a Setback Turns Into a Setup for Good | Faith

Posted on 1

faith, finance, trust, timing, patience, GodA year ago today, I walked into work and had a pink slip on my desk. As devastating as it was my soul was relieved. Truth is, deep down I knew I was in the wrong position professionally. I had my doubts before starting the job but overlooked the red flags because I honestly thought I could handle it and at the time thought I needed a job. As I look back, what I really needed to do was trust God and His timing.

Waiting on God can be difficult at times but it is worth it! I took some advice from my family and enjoyed the time off. I went on vacation, caught up on rest, got organized at home, spent time with friends and family, found love, started the blog, and grew my business. There are beautiful blessings in the most unfortunate situations.

A year later, I realized that what most would call a setback became a setup for something better. I just had to open my eyes and heart to see it! As we approach the new year, let’s look for the good in every situation and enjoy it all!
